I spent a few years as a tipi artist in Central Oregon. I really enjoyed my time there and it was an incredible learning experience. The tipis themselves are fashioned after the Souix style, and are a heavy untreated canvas. The paint was exterior house paint which held up well to the outdoor elements. Many of the stock designs are based off of years of research into native cultures. The pictograph animals were done using thin paint and sweeping strokes, so different than my normally controlled way of painting. They eventually became my favorite style. What was really exciting however, was creating custom designs for our clients. From logos to memorials and full murals, the sky was the limit.
